How are we already here?! To think I’m setting goals for 2025 already is truly wild to me. Alas, we must move!
Something I wanted to focus on this year in particular is ensuring that I am branching out as much as possible, without putting too much pressure on myself to actually enjoy a novel, take in the story, and more importantly – remember what the heck I just read.

1. Review Everything I Read ASAP
I think its really important within the blogging and reviewing of books to actually remember everything I’ve just read, and I believe that by blogging more consistently after everything I read is my first most logical approach.
As well as that, I want to make sure that the first thing I do is take a bloody picture to actually post on the likes of my Instagram, as well as doing a quick video after I write the review to make sure I’m covering all bases of the review as well.
2. Branch Out to Shorter Novellas!
Guys, I honestly am a sucker for a short story that in concise and relatively straight to the point – especially if it manages to keep me engaged from Page 1. I just read “The English Understand Wool”, and I can’t wait to whack a quick review up because honestly, it was a 70 page story, that kept me weirdly engaged. Loved it.
I think its important to remember that okay, not everything has to be a 300 page book, but at least give you something to take away from it, and I truly think that short novellas definitely do that very well.
3. Don’t Feel Pressure to Meet Reading Goal
Although my goal for this year is to read 50 books, I really need to take each month as it comes, because I found myself in so many reading slumps in 2024, and thus ended with me hitting a wall and heading into a reading slump.
I think if I set my goal to 50 for the year, technically it means I need to read 1 book every week, so wish me luck!
4. Read From More Indigenous/POC Authors
I’m sure this is something we can all agree on, is that I absolutely do not read enough novels as a whole from Indigenous and People of Colour authors. Its embarrassing to admit, but, its something I am consciously going to make more of an effort with in 2025.
5. Read More ARCs Through NetGalley
I absolutely LOVE using NetGalley. It helps me discover new authors and publishing houses, and something I’ve already started to make an effort with! Of course, you will be notified of all of the books I read as advanced copies and given the reviews!
Let me know what your reading goals are for 2025 – I’d absolutely love to chat about them!
Have a lovely day!
