Hello, friends! Hope you’re all doing well.
This one I audiobook’d and honestly, the narrators were a highlight. Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais together were a really enjoyable listen and a big part of what kept me going.
3.5 ⭐️
Bluebird Gold by Devney Perry is a romantic suspense set in 1983 Montana, following Ilsa, who returns to her late father’s lakeside cabin to settle his estate, only to discover that his death might not have been as straightforward as she was led to believe. Enter Cosi, the town sheriff, a single dad, and very much not someone she was planning on falling for.
The premise is genuinely fun. Small town, lost Montana gold, a mystery to unravel, a protective MMC with a son who honestly stole every scene he was in. The bones of this story are really good and I can absolutely see why so many people loved it.
For me personally though, it just took a little too long to get to the point. The title is Bluebird Gold and yet the gold legend felt like it sat in the background for way too long before it really came into play. By the time it picked up, I was ready for it to have arrived much sooner.
A nice easy listen, a solid enough story, just not one that is going to stick with me for long. Sometimes that is perfectly fine.
3.5 stars. Enjoyable, not unforgettable.
