Don’t Answer The Phone | Review

There’s nothing more I love than a twisty and addictive psychological thriller. Especially when the prologue starts with a ‘THEN’ heading and ends with the following paragraph following our character hearing an ear-piercing scream after running inside to answer the phone but being met with static;
“I pull her into my arms, knowing its too late. The best first aid skills in the world won’t bring her back to me.
“Which one of you did this?” I screech, staring up at them.
“Don’t be so stupid. It was an accident.”
Except I know it wasn’t. I only have to look at their faces.

You already KNOW I was gripped and what a way to start this book.

Thank you to Inkubator Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read Don’t Answer The Phone by Miranda Rijks.

This story had me hooked from the very beginning. The prologue grips you immediately and you find yourself immediately wanting to know more.
We meet Daniella, a mum of two identical twins, and happily married to her husband Grant living in the suburbs of Brooklyn. Then, a chance good deed where Daniella helps a lovely elderly lady called Peggy following an attack in the street, turns into something of a nightmare including Peggy’s son. An obsession begins, mistakes were made, and the story unravels. From loathing to delusion, Rijks created a story that was simply addictive.

We meet Lucas, who initially gives off the impression of a swoon worthy eligible bachelor – but not for Daniella. His behaviour quickly seems to shift to questionable, then creepy and disrespectful of boundaries, and the further we delve into this story, the more unreliable he becomes.

I’ll absolutely be reading more of this author’s work immediately.

Thanks again to Inkubator Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to receive this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
